The Joint Committee for the Association of Private Schools, an umbrella of all private schools in Kano State, has threatened a showdown with the state government as schools resume today.

Alhaji Baba Umar Abubakar, the special adviser to the state governor on Private Schools, had in July announced the cancellation of the operating license of all private schools in the state and asked them to renew it before they resume operations in September.

Briefing newsmen Sunday in Kano on behalf of the proprietors, one of the conveners, Engr. Bashir Adamu Aliyu, asked the proprietors to open their schools on Monday as planned.

“We hereby call on all private schools and parents to remain calm, and open their schools Monday morning as scheduled.

“We call on media houses and other members of the public to be on the lookout for any eventualities as we resume schools tomorrow (Monday),” Engr. Aliyu added.
