The suspended Executive Chairman of Rano Local Government council, Alhaji Naziru Yau, has been cleared of all allegations by the Kano State House of Assembly, paving the way for his return to office.

Yau, who was suspended pending investigation, was welcomed back by hundreds of jubilant supporters at the Rano–Bunkure boundary.

He later proceeded to the Rano Emir’s Palace, where he received royal blessings from Emir Muhammad Isa Umaru before resuming duties at the Rano Local Government Secretariat.

He also expressed gratitude to Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the NNPP leadership, and others who contributed to his reinstatement.

The development has sparked celebration in Rano, with large crowds gathering to welcome the chairman back to office.

It can be recalled that the LGA chairman was suspended following a submission of an interim report of the house committee on public petition headed by house majority leader Hussaini Lawan Chediyar.

He was accused of misconduct, abuse of office, diversion and misappropriation of public funds levelled against him by elected councillors of the council.

Other allegations leveled against the chairman included instigation of conflict and disunity among political leaders and councillors in the local council; engaging in divisive political activities by selectively distributing government resources only to his political allies; selective distribution of Dangote school forms, GES fertiliser and government fertiliser, selling above the N20,000 approved by the government without the councillors’ knowledge; mismanagement and non-transparent handling of revenue from markets, cattle levies and other income; unauthorised sale and allocation of market stalls.
