Residents of Bini village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State have marched to the Government House in Gusau against the removal of military troops from their village.

According to them, the reason for withdrawing the troops was not made known to them, saying they had left their community without security.

The community members which comprises men, women, and their children, carried their foodstuff, mats and other properties along with them to the Government House to express their dismay.

They lamented that some of the community members had been shot by the bandits leaving them with various injuries, insisting that the government should return the troops and deploy an additional contingent to secure the community to guarantee their safety.

State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Wadatau Madawaki, and his counterpart in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Abdul Malik Gajam, received the peaceful protesters.

They assured that the state government is doing its best to ensure the security and safety of the residents in line with their campaign promises, and it will ensure troops are redeployed to protect the Bini community and other troubled communities in the State.

Madawaki also reiterated the Dauda Lawal administration’s stance of not negotiating with the bandits but wanting security forces to go all-out to root them out of the State.
