Nationwide Strike by Organised Labour Delays Kano Emirate Dispute Hearing

The planned session at the Federal High Court under the jurisdiction of Justice Abdullahi Liman to address the conflict regarding the emirate dispute was postponed due to the nationwide strike led by organized labor advocating for an increase in the minimum wage.

The federal high court instruction has been issued to the State Police, the Commissioner of Police in Kano, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Services (DSS) to refrain from implementing the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Law, which was recently approved by the Kano State House of Assembly and endorsed by Governor Abba Yusuf.
