The Kaduna State Governorship/State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Kaduna, on Friday, nullified the electoral victory of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Dahiru Liman.
Recall that the Speaker was elected under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent Makera constituency in the State House of Assembly but his major challenger during the election, Honourable Solomon Katuka of the the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) challenged his victory at the Tribunal.
The Speaker advised his supporters to remain calm as this is the process of democracy. Read the Speaker’s full statement below:

I would like to provide an important update to our esteemed supporters regarding the recent verdict by the election petition tribunal. The tribunal has ruled that there should be a supplementary election in certain polling units of the Makera Constituency.
We understand that this news may bring a mix of emotions and uncertainties. However, we urge all our supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and confident in the strength of our cause. This is merely a part of the democratic process, and we are committed to upholding the integrity and fairness of the electoral system.
We want to assure you that our team of lawyers are already working diligently to prepare for the appeal process of the verdict. We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that our supporters’ voices are heard and that the democratic will of the people prevails.
