A judge of the Upper Customary Court in Kaduna State Janet Gimba who was kidnapped by bandits along with her four children has been released.
However, the kidnappers still have custody of three of her children.
Although the judge’s release was verified by her husband Musa Gimba, he stated that the woman was freed without her three children.
He revealed that the robbers are threatening to murder them if they do not receive the N150 million ransom within three days.
On June 24, 2024, the female judge who works for Kaduna State’s Upper Customary Court, Sabon Tasha Division, and her four children were abducted from their home in the Mahuta neighborhood of Chikun Local Government Area, which is on the outskirts of Kaduna City.
However, Victor Gimba, the woman’s 14-year-old oldest son, was subsequently slain by the attackers, according to Mansir Hassan, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command
On Tuesday, July 2, police officers discovered his body in the Sabon Tasha Division, Ungwan Bayero of Dutse village, next to the toll gate, along the Kaduna–Abuja highway.
Following the event, a police spokesman stated that the victims were being saved and the bandits were being apprehended by the Command’s anti-kidnapping team in cooperation with other sister security organizations.
