Gunmen have abducted the Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, Rev. Gideon Haanongon.
It was gathered that Haanongon was kidnapped alongside his Personal Assistant on Administration, Silas Yuhwam, his driver, and his orderly in the early hours of Saturday.
This was made known in a statement by Secretary of the Council, Jonathan Modi.
Modi disclosed that the incident occurred Saturday morning along Anyagba, Tongov, in Katsina Ala LGA at about 6:30 am.
“The Chairman was kidnapped alongside his orderly, PA, and driver on their way to attend the burial of the paramount Ruler of the LG, the Ter Katsina Ala, HRH Chief Fezaanga Wombo,” Modi said in the statement.
Modi further advised residents to remain calm and law-abiding while measures are being put in place to ensure the chairman regains his freedom.
The Benue State Police Command is yet to respond to enquiries about the incident.
