Residents of Shavon and Di-Nyanvoh communities in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital, Monday, lamented the inability of Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) to restore power.

A resident of Shavon area of Mile 6, Favour Nyawu, said it was wrong for YEDC to keep people in total blackout without restoring power. She stated that the inability of the company to ensure power in the area, compared to other parts of Jalingo, has been making life unbearable.

He added that residents no longer sleep with their two eyes closed as hoodlums always take advantage of the situation to terrorize innocent people at night. She added that the YEDC must as a matter of restore power.

“It is inhuman to keep us in darkness. For over two weeks, we have not seen light and we are living as if are in the village,” she lamented. When contacted, a senior staff of the company who spoke with our correspondent on telephone said he could not speak until he gets approval to speak from YEDC.
