Sequel to the recent violence which occurred in some communities across three Local Government Councils of Plateau State, the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), has called for “calm and insightful resolution” to the violence.

JNI also warned miscreants against hiding under the guise of the crises to ignite conflict in Jos North through unprovoked attacks on innocent citizens.

This was disclosed by JNI’s Publicity Secretary in the State, Sani Mudi, in Jos, the State Capital.

Mudi said, “The Jama’atu Nasril Islam Plateau State Chapter, under the leadership of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Wase, Dr Muhammad Sambo Haruna, wishes to express its deep concern over the recurring violence in some local government areas of the northern part of the state, in particular Bassa, Jos South, Riyom and the attempt by some miscreants to reignite conflict in Jos North Local government area through unprovoked attacks on innocent citizens and destruction of properties.

“These are truly worrisome developments which pose serious threats to the efforts of the state government to solidify the gains made through its peace-building activities which have so far delivered impressive

results.

According to him, “The JNI views the bloody crises in Bassa and Riyom LGs as an abominable desecration of lives which is against the teaching of Islam.

“We, therefore, wish to appeal to all concerned to sheath the sword and

embrace the path of peace and reconciliation”, he admonished.

“This can only be achieved by embracing dialogue, anchored on truth and sincerity, in our approach to resolving conflicts, which are inevitable in the nature of human relations.

“Viewing the persistent nature of the bloody conflicts which seem to defy all solutions so far, and it’s increasingly ugly dimensions, we are compelled to advise that in order to find lasting solution and achieve sustainable peace among the communities, it is imperative to look deeply into the underlying cause (s) of these conflicts”, Mudi explained.

“We believe this, though seemingly Herculean task, has the best chance of providing opportunity for a thorough look at the multifaceted nature of the conflicts in Bassa and Riyom local government areas, with the sparks in some part of Jos South local government area.

The JNI urged security agencies to intensify efforts in fishing out the perpetrators of the violence and their sponsors and be made to face the full wrath of the law.

The Muslim body also urged Governor Simon Lalong to be focused and not to be distracted by the activities of the enemies of peace who are bent on taking back the state to the era of “chaos and bloodletting,” which it has since left.
