Zungeru, a small town in Wushishi LG, Niger state, was the capital of the British protectorate of Northern Nigeria from 1902 until 1916.
A town where notable individuals like:
Nnamdi Azikiwe, first President of Nigeria
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, leader of secessionist state Biafra
David Mark, former President of the Senate were all born but yet the people of Zungeru suffered many decades of dilapidated infrastructure.
All that is history now as Gov Abu Sani Bello is now giving the town a befitting look with the construction of its township bypass roads.
