Nurses and midwives on Thursday staged a peaceful protest to Kaduna Ministry of Health over the abduction of two of their female colleagues by bandits.
The protesting health workers said their members had fled most of the rural hospitals due to lack of security in health facilities.
They stormed the Ministry of Health to register anger over what they described as insecure premises of most health facilities in the state.
Chairman, Kaduna chapter of the association, Ishaku Yakubu, said lack of adequate security at most health premises was responsible for abduction of their members.
Yakubu lamented five of their members have been abducted while over 100 were earlier affected by Covid-19 pandemic in the state.
While describing the situation as condemnable, Yakubu called on the State Government to intensify efforts and ensure the kidnapped nurses are released in the next 72 hours unhurt.
He said anything short of that would leave them with no option than to withdraw their services.
