Gov Abu Sani Bello travels about 400km and spends well over 5hrs in 3 remote desert communities for the sole objective of consoling and sympathizing with these communities over the recent bandits attack on a mosque that resulted to the death of 16 innocent people.

Mashegu is a LG in Niger State located about 271km from the state capital. A few days ago, terrorist disrupted the tranquility of worshippers in a mosque where people were praying and murdered about 16 people in Ba’are village which is about 1hr 30mins from the capital of Mashegu LG.

According to an eye witness report, the terrorist, invaded the community during prayers and killed 16 people who were observing prayers in the mosque.

Governor who grieved with the community assured them measures would be put in place to avoid repeated attack. His Excellency later proceeded to Adogon Mallam Village, about an hour journey from Ba’are to settle the scores between Hausa and the Fulani communities living in the area.

Stopping further in Adogon Mallam community, the Governor stressed the need for peaceful co-existence between the people and assured them that government is already investigating the cause of the last crisis and will bring anyone found wanting to justice.

The Governor again, embarked on another 1hr journey to Maza-Kuka still in Mashegu to obtain first hand information on the security situation there and assured the residents of the Government’s unswerving commitment to restoring peace and and to protection the lives and properties of the people, particularly those living in rural areas. After this His Excellency and his team retired to kontagora at about 9pm.

On this journey, the Governor was accompanied by top government functionaries including the SSG, Alh. Ahmed MataneChief of Staff, Alh. Ibrahim Balarabe Kagara, Commisioner for LG, Chieftaincy Affairs and Home Security, Mr. Emmanuel Umar, Special Adviser Political and Strategy, Alh. Nma Kolo, State APC Party Chairman, Hon. Haliru Zakari Jikantoro and Heads of security agencies.
