Kebbi state government, in collaboration with American doctors, to commenced a three -week medical outreach in the state to assist the people gain access to health facilities at the ultra modern Hospital, Kalgo near Birnin kebbi, the state capital.
The government in a statement issued by the the office of the SSA New Media His Excellency, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State on the 29th of April, 2016, inspected the Kebbi Medical Center, Kalgo and facilities under which a free three-week medical outreach service is ongoing.
This is the 4th free medical outreach under the leadership of the Governor. Over 100 doctors and over 150 medical personnel including surgeons, pediatricians, gynecologists, ENT Specialists, pharmacists, ophthalmologists, dentists, Orthopedic surgeons and others are hard at work.
Chairman Clinical Committee and Director Medical Services, Ministry of Health, Dr. Aminu Bunza says “We are expecting more patients this time around due to the JOHESU strikes across the country and increased awareness across the state”
The team comprises of Kebbi State Medical workers, medical personnel and doctors from UDUTH Sokoto, UCH Ibadan and Pro health International. There are also student volunteers from Kebbi State School of Nursing and School of Health Technology and members of the Moses Lake Medical team from the United States of America. The team will be working together while building the capacity of medical workers in a teaching environment.
Over 50,000 people have benefited from the three previous outreaches especially with regards to surgeries across specialities. All expenses for all patients are free and the Governor has called on all to take the opportunity for consultancies and surgeries. The outreach is expected to end on the 12th of May, 2018.
