One suspect Yunusa Manu has been arrested by authorities and is now currently on bail as further investigations continue.
His arrest is based on a petition sent against him sent to the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State.
The petition was titled; complaint of stealing and flagrant diversion of COVID 19 palliatives against Yunusa Manu.
It contains his name and address stated as 7, Jibrin Street, Labadiya, Saminaka, Lere LGA, Kaduna State.
This is followed by the claim that he was relieved of his party position since 10th of January 2020. This action was taken with the aid of a notification letter addressed and served to him by the state chapter of the party.
Yunusa Manu who is a legislative aid to the Kaduna Senator Abdu Kwari however, disobeys the order issued in the letter received and continues to front himself as the party chairman to the public.
This fraudulent impersonation gave him the leverage of diverting large quantities of COVID 19 palliatives to neighboring Plateau State in the wee hours of 31st of October 2020 where he was intercepted by security forces in Jingre Town.
In this petition, he was said to have conveyed the COVID-19 palliatives in a J5 Peugeot and Sharon vehicles around 1:00am when it got intercepted by the Nigerian Army.
Yunusa Manu in his written confession to the authorities implicated the Lere Local Government Council Chairman of his involvement in the diversion of the COVID-19 palliatives.
The response of the Council Chairman was not forthcoming as of the time of compiling this report.
