Time is swallowing days but what keeps our memory alive? Great minds said it is a creative writing. Writers could naturally die but what they write will never die. Years back we had many writers that touch(ed) our living hearts and still their memory in us is dead-alive. Past generations were dedicated and accustomed to writing – and this skill has palpably become otherwise in present generation. Is it the courage we lack or writing spirits were dead with our fore writers or do we lack assimilating capacity to inject the spirits of one another? These undisputed questions often sway in my mind.
More than ever, now some writers are potential but they lack responsible mentors to guide them through. Mentorship is the first guiding step of writing. No matter how witty and sharp you become – you need pen and strong hand to write but these are nothing if there is no one to guide you; be wary enough while choosing a mentor. Remember you want to be a good writer – and you can’t write if you don’t read. So there is need to choose a bookworm or bibliophile to be your mentor. Some are only named fluent in societies – they often talk with no reference from books – so don’t lose in anxiety – choose the mentor that has mentors because mentorship is metamorphosis.
Good writers are philosophical. They see life beyond its name and use it beyond its features. They love wisdom and they use wisdom to touch minds. While writing don’t only be yourself, think about the reader’s emotions – create suspense and foresee its fore -end. And meditation guides towards this. Try and create conscious sensitivity in your writing and sensitivity toward readers.
Be grammatical. Try and simplify your work the way readers can easily grasp your message. Some readers use word with its many synonyms in same sentence and this makes their writing cheap. Yes you are at position to use any word but choose your diction wisely. There is need to study many words before you decide to use them. There are some words that are ambiguous – avoid using such words if they may create bewilderment.
Avoid plagiarism. Don’t copy another writer’s ideas and use. You can read his book, build your own from his but don’t copy his work and use your name. Yes no writer ever writes without studying other’s works or reading people’s mind, culture, religion or background but plagiarising their work is wrong.
Finally, If you are not a writer be one, write to be corrected, write to inspire, write to entertain and write to be a writer so that death can remember you and be on the front page of book of life.
