The Katsina State Government has given operators of commercial tricycles and motorcycles in the state till the end of August to formally register with the government.
They have also been directed to print the code numbers given them during registration on such tricycles and motorcycles.
Tricycles operators are in addition, directed not to taint their glasses or decorate their interiors with curtains again.
The Katsina State sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Commission, Ali Tanimu confirmed the development in a statement in Katsina.
He said the steps were parts of security measures to curb crimes in the state.
“Contained in a document signed from the office of the Secretary to the government of the state, the ban was necessary as the activities of tricyclists and motorcyclists were reviewed against prevailing fragile security situation in the state.
“According to the resolution, the ban on the use of curtains, tainted glasses also included the playing of loud music by tricycle operators in the state.
“Operators of tricycles and motorcycles are further advised to register them (their vehicles) properly and to print code numbers given to them for (the vehicles) before the end of August 2019.
“The Federal Roads Safety Corps, Katsina sector command and the Board of Internal Revenue will supervise to ensure the successful implementation.
“Failure to comply after the end of August 2019, the deadline will be met with enforcement decided by the state government.”
