Women have been advised to participate actively in the forthcoming general elections aimed at having successful conduct of the polls.
The resident electoral commissioner National Independent Electoral Commission INEC in Kano, Professor Risqua Arab shehu stated during a zonal meeting on Women’s participation in the 2019 general elections organised by INEC in collaboration with Hadis foundation for seven States of the northwest zone held in Kano.
He said INEC had made all possible arrangements that would cater for women and nursing mother’s for easy cast of their votes during the forth coming general elections.
Risqua maintained that the aim of organising the workshop was to enlighten women on vote casting modalities towards ensuring achievement of desired objectives.
The commissioner noted that INEC has provided suitable avenues for people with disability in the forthcoming general elections so that they will cast their votes without any hinderance.
In her remark, the gender desk officer INEC Kano office Hauwa Buhari said the commission had achieved a lot interms of enlightening women and the general public for ensuring that the forthcoming general elections Accord great success.
Speaking earlier the Kano state commissioner for women affairs hajiya Yardada Maikano Bichi said women have a vital role to play in politics,hence they should be enlightened and sensitised accordingly for the sustanance of democracy.
The workshop had in attendance of participants from seven States of the Northwest zone, which comprised of women, disables, members of civil society organisations and other stakeholders
