KANO POLITICS: The Gale Of Filthy Utterances In Mainstream Media
Written by Adamu Aminu, Kano.
In view of the longstanding adage, fostering Kano and Kanawa’s patriotism and self-confessed supremacy in various life endeavors which says” Kano tumbin Giwa, Yaro ko da mai kazo an fika” which means “Kano, the melting pot, whatever you brought, we are already ahead of you”.
By all indications, the analogy of the aforementioned adage, recounting Kano over a long period of time through excelling in commercial activities, agricultural development, Political and center of tradition and artistic heritage, has gained an additional crown of standing aloft over its counterparts in the area of Political hate-Speeches, filthy utterances and negative rhetoric which have gone far in back-sliding the hard-earned supremacy which Kano acclaimed over a long period of time.
Candidly speaking, the way and manner some of the bigwigs in the governing party and their counterpart of the red caps stalwarts conducts themselves under the pretext of freedom of expression, which is out rightly and totally uncalled-for.
Heated debates, exchanges of bitter words and curses in overwhelming quantity among them, have become order of the day with the compliments of mainstream media who compromised their editorial responsibilities just to serve their allegiance to the highest bidder.
The situation knows no bound to the extent like there is no rule of law in Kano that will stem the tide of this dreadful political abnormality.
The question is, is this kind of legacy supposed to leave behind to the aspiring politicians?
It is grossly worrisome that there are some bigwigs in both splinter groups of the same party, who supposed to set the pace to their loyalist, to emulate, but instead, some are demonstrating egocentric ideology, boasting of strong connection and thumping of chest by making imprudent utterances capable of heating the peaceful serenity of the state, been confidently aware that they will go scot-free.
While some, standing regally from the other side, claiming to have grass-roots reputation and politically-crafted manoeuvres, are overstepping the marks in the course of expressing their resentment to the targeted recipients.
Is this kind of politics, Kano is claiming to have expertise on?
What would be the cost of inaction from the appropriate authorities for not stemming the tide of political idiocy in Kano State?
What impact does this ugly trend will convey on youth mentality about politics in Kano?
There is no gainsaying, if you feel sorry for the immature politicians and die-hard party loyalist, who are without any shred of doubt are at the receiving end of this unfortunate development, who thinks to be vulgar, provocative and abusive is a prerequisite to be a Politicians.
I think, it is high time for our political leaders, particularly in Kano State to reawaken and to rule by exemplary and moral deeds and utterances which will promote peace, harmony and socioeconomic well-being of our dear state…Kano.
Stitch in time save nine.
