Governor Tanko Umaru Al-makura of Nasarawa state has approved to sponsor one hundred and seventy (170) Christians to Israel for their spiritual obligations this year.
The Executive secretary, Christian welfare board, Barr. Musa Aloko made this known to journalists in Lafia on Saturday, appreciating the state government for the increase on number persons sponsored against the previous.
Barr. Aloko, giving a breakdown of the sponsors, said ” Governor Al-makura has graciously approved the sponsor of 120 slots from the state, and another fifty slots from the local government areas in Nasarawa state.
So, the benevolence of the government of Christian pilgrims this year grows up to a total of 170.
“We want to express our appreciation on behalf of the Christian welfare board in the state for this show of grace, benevolence and we do promise him that as we go to the holy land to seek spiritual rejuvenation of our faith, we shall equally pray for the state, nation and entire citizenry of the country,” he stated.
He added that this is the only way to express their gratitude for what the government is doing for the Christians.
According to him, the journey which started with fifty slots has grown up to 170, adding that this year alone, they have witnessed a monumental increase in the numbers of person which is against what it used to be in the past.
Stressing that it was as a result of the sensitisation campaign they board carried out that lead to this success, urging for more patronage particularly individual persons.
He added that about fifty self-sponsored Pilgrims would also join in the spiritual exercise, making a total of 190 Christian for the onward journey to Israel.
Urging all intended pilgrims to urgently come for the screening and documentation latest Wednesday 6th for the early take-up.
