Yesterday 12 Sep, the Al-Barnawi faction of BHT suffered heavily from their misadventure into Damasak. The ISWAP members met their Waterloo when our gallant troops lead by the Gen Buratai engaged the hoodlums, overran their perimeters neutralizing over 50 BHTs after a heavy shootout that lasted about 5 hours.
Some of them ran for their lives with severe gunshot wounds abandoning gun trucks and other ammunition. To assure the inhabitants of Damasak of their safety and security the indefatigable COAS today directed the Commanding Officer 145 Bn Lt Col James Nkereuwem to carry out confidence-building patrol inside Damasak Township to reassure the inhabitants of their safety. The patrol made a stop at the palace of the village head and also went to the market square where he advised them to report any suspicious persons or movement.
