Given the intractable and internecine conflicts around the world, fed mainly by ethnic and religious bigotry, one is alarmed by the fact that the world is becoming a more dangerous place to live. People seem less united to fight exploitation by their ruling elites. But they can readily kill themselves because of ethnic and religious bigotry.
Extreme poverty created by bad leaders seems to me to be a greater problem, but the masses are indifferent to such reality, provided the people in power are members of their own ethnic and religious group. In fact, they don’t care about the adverse economic and social consequences of corruption because the man in power is a member of their own ethnic group.
Our disunity advances the interests of the ruling elites. Once they keep us divided on the basis of ethnic and religious differences, they can easily keep us in check by diverting our attention from the negative impacts of their greed and selfishness on our common well being.
Our biggest enemy is our own ignorance. Once the majority are shackled by ignorance, it is much easier to manipulate and exploit them. The ruling elites prey on our ethnic and religious differences for their own advantages by using us as fighting tools. But when the balloon goes up, they take the next available flights to escape to safety abroad and abandon us to our fate.
