One Salihu Dage has been confirmed dead following a violent clash between factional youth groups of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State after a disagreement broke out during the conduct of the local government congress of the party in the area.
While confirming the incident to Journalists Sunday evening, the Gombe State Police Command also declared that three other persons were seriously injured after a heated debate among rival supporters of the party.
Gombe State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mary Malum, said that investigations into the incident have begun in order to get to the root causes of the fracas which occurred between the rival party youths.
She said that the incident occurred after the peaceful conduct of the party congresses adding that three persons have so far been arrested.
An eyewitness, Sani Deba, who spoke to reporters said Salihu Dage was killed as a result of fighting after voting had ended on Saturday adding that five people sustained injuries during the violent fracas.
Apart from the tension created within the party factional supporters of the party, the APC Local Government Congresses were conducted peacefully across the state.
