The freedom of association and expression was demonstrated yesterday in Katsina state during the mega rally of the moribund people’s Democratic Party PDP held in Katsina.
Our correspondent reports that the PDP held its northwest zonal mega rally devoid of molestation, intimidation or any form of harassment.
Numerous members of the general public in Katsina including members of the opposition party commended the political maturity and sagacity of Gov Aminu Masari for not only allowing the rally to hold but ensuring that it was conducted peacefully.
Malam Musa Mohammed a politician and Katsina resident described it as show of maturity, decency and decorum by the all progressive congress APC for ensuring peace and stability before, during and after the rally.
He said before the advent of APC administration in Katsina State, members of the opposition had no right to conduct such a rally or even use the state own media in promoting their programs.
He said by that singular and unique action demonstrated by Gov Masari, it is clear that he is the best politician of this time, “adding I never ever doubted the maturity of Masari though am not an APC member” he said.

He described the eight years of Shema as injurious to opposition as the policy then was “if you cannot beat them you join them” he said.
He called on all politicians irrespective of their political party or inclination to borrow the Masari style of politics without bitterness, stressing such policy would further help our democracy by internalizing and institutionalizing maturity and decency in the polity.
When contacted the Director General of the Media & Publicity, Mallam Ibrahim Muazzam Abdullahi, said what happened yesterday was a clear demonstration of Gov Masari’s maturity and understanding of how politics should be played.
The DG Katsina Media & lamented how politics was played in Katsina during the immediate past PDP government as intimidation and brutalisation happened to be the order of the day.
