President Muhammadu Buhari has described Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo as a loyal and dependable partner in the task of governance and nation-building.
He said this in a tweet on Thursday as the Vice President marked his 61st birthday.
“Thank you for being a loyal and dependable partner on this journey. I join millions of your friends and well-wishers around the world to wish you many more years of service to God, to Nigeria, and to humanity,” the President wrote.
In 2013 when the All Progressives Congress (APC) was formed , Osinbajo was tasked, alongside other notable Nigerians, to design and produce a manifesto for the new political party.
This culminated in the presentation of the “Roadmap to a New Nigeria”, a document published by APC as its manifesto when elected to power.
On 17 December 2014 the presidential candidate of the APC, retired General Muhammadu Buhari, announced Osinbajo as his running mate and vice-presidential candidate for the 2015 general elections.
Subsequently, he became the Vice President of Nigeria after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Buhari as the winner of the elections on March 31, 2015.
He is married to Oludolapo, with whom he has three children.
