Gov MA Abubakar has reiterated his administration’s determination and commitment towards ensuring peaceful coexistence among the followers of the two major religions in the state.
The Governor made the reiteration earlier today when he received in audience the Catholic Bishops of Bauchi Diocese led by Rev. Father Bishop Hillary at the council chamber of the government house.
Since the inception of his administration, Governor M.A Abubakar set out a machinery in motion to have a state where all and sundry live together in peace, unity and harmony.
The idea, according to the Governor, is to give a sense of belonging to the people of the state irrespective of religious or ethnic inclinations.
The Governor further stated that to ensure the required results, he appointed a Special Assistant, Christian Liaison and another aide officer non indegenes. He maintained that Bauchi State is a Multi-Cultural Society and equity for all is his grand rule, stressing that in Bauchi State there are no second class citizens as all citizens are equal and are living peacefully without discrimination.
The Gov promised to look into the possibility of establishing a center for peace in the state and increase in government sponsorship to Jerusalem Pilgrimage.
The leader of the delegation, Dr. Hillary Dachlem expressed the loyalty and support of the Bauchi Diocese to the present administration in the state and also thanked the Gov for the support rendered to them.
The leader used the forum to commend President Buhari for addressing the issue of insecurity and effort being made to tackle corruption in the country.
He also commended the Governor Mohammed Abubakar for being fair to Christian community in the state, prompt payment of salaries and provision of developmental projects across all the nooks and crannies of the state especially human capital development.
Finally, the Rev. Father appreciate the Governor for being fair and objective to all Christian community inclusive urging him to continue in that regard.
