Back to life Bauchi Fertiliser Company has set into a motion a mechanism to dominate the market in the 19 northern states.
The Executive Chairman of the company, Bappa Aliyu Misau (Sarkin Yamma Misau), disclosed this on Tuesday while conducting journalists round the company’s expansive premises located at the Industrial Estate of the state capital.
“We are set to go full blast in 2018. We are going to run shifts and operate on 24 hours basis. Our goal is to supply NPK to farmers in the entire northern states,” he said.
The former House of Representatives member, who assumed office in February last year, expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, for his unflinching support, which he said enabled him and his team to quickly revive the company, which was moribund for two years before his appointment.
“I am very grateful to His Excellency, the Executive Governor. He is eager to see this company work and has given us a blank cheque. Thanks to his support and encouragement, we were able to resume production in March last year – within a month of my assuming office – and within six months we produced more NPK than the company produced in its nine years of operation,” the Bauchi Fertiliser Company Executive Chairman said.
He disclosed that, as a result of the feat, the company, which employs about 300 workers, did not only supply fertilser to farmers in the state but also to the neighbouring Gombe State.
“Our goal is to do much more than that this year and to meet the fertiliser needs of farmers in the entire northern states,” Misau said.
He declared that the company’s fertiliser is one of the best in the market and invited farmers who need the product to get in touch as the company is poised to meet their needs.
