The Jigawa State Government launched a flag off state wide empowerment initiative for petty traders in Dutse.
The Governor of Jigawa State Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar represented by the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Inuwa Tahir said the initiative was a grant to boost the earnings and economic activities amongst the traders.
For the programme, 5,740 people will benefit, where 20 beneficiaries will be selected from each of the 287 wards of the state.
The sum of N57,400,000.00K was earmarked for the programme and will be disbursed across the state, where 2,870 beneficiaries will receive N5,000; also 1,435 beneficiaries will receive N10,000 as grants, while 1,435 beneficiaries will receive the sum of N20, 000 each.
At the flag up ceremony, a total of 220 beneficiaries from 11 wards benefitted the total sum of N2,200,000.00K and the grant will simultaneously be disbursed in the remaining 276 political wards across 26 Local Government Areas in the State.
Top Government officials that attended the flag off ceremony includes the Honourable Commissioners of Works, Finance, Agriculture and Information.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Economic Empowerment Hon. Abba Mujaddadi represented the Deputy Governor who served as the Chief Host.
Others are Special Assistants, Permanent Secretaries and Directors of various departments.
