President Muhammadu Buhari has described the reception he was given by Kano people as “overwhelming.”
The President is making his first visit to Kano State since his election in 2015.
His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR today commissioned the Giginyu Specialist Hospital Kano which was completed and equipped by His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR, which has now been named Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital.
Governor Ganduje inherited the newly commissioned Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital and that of Zoo Road Paediatric Hospital,which will be commissioned too by the President today, and made the uncompleted hospitals his priority to complete them, both the structure and their equipments. The 2 hospitals have a bed capacity of 500 patients and also cost over N7Billion.
Later today President Muhammadu Buhari will commission the Zoo Road Children’s hospital and Fanshekara Underpass, at Madobi junction. While CBN Road, 2nd line of KASCO fertilizer blending company and other projecta will be commissioned tomorrow.
Earlier, the President and his entourage paid a visit to the Sarkin Kano Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II, and proceeded to the Kurmawa Central Prison where 500 inmates were released as a gesture of the visit, by Governor Ganduje.
President Buhari was accompanied by ministers, heads of federal agencies and other state and federal top government officials.
The President had paid homage to the Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, after which he also visited the Kurmawa Prison “to see the state of Nigerian prisons himself,” Ahmad said.
